Actually, U564 was modelled on SA because the latter had become the de-facto standard for Japanese manufacturers. Does this mean this should be its favorite tape (calibrated to), or is it still more likely it is calibrated to tdk sa?ĭo you guys feel onkyo has a favorite tape? Recordings on both tapes sound good. The various SAs from 1985 to 1991 are a good match for the post-1987 IEC reference U564W. Now the actual question : even though the deck has accubias, is there perhaps still a tape (brand) onkyo seems to prefer? The bias knob at 12 is meant for XL-II according to its manual.
I am pretty amazed at how good it sounds so far. I got hold of some XL-II, SA, SA-X, MA 's. The latest one I was able to work on is called 'Alternate Reality' and below is a very rough demo version of it Let me know what you think by sending an e-mail to. As a kid I had a very simple deck and no knowledge of bias or the whole "stuff" of tape. is a project of, built to showcase the amazing beauty and (sometimes) weirdness found in the designs of the common audio tape cassette. I am starting to get the hang of it to make decent recordings on some nos tapes I managed to get a hold of.
Short introduction: I'm a big onkyo fan and own mostly onkyo integra gear.Ī few years back I bought a TA2600 in good shape, but only recently got to connect it to the main system. This is my first post (more like question).
